I started an "adoption" process at my church where individuals or small groups are encouraged to adopt one of the 52 countries in the world where it is illegal to be a Christ-follower. As news of persecution comes in from the various countries we share it with the people who have agreed to pray. Seems overwhelming, but...

Kathi, I was a World Vision sponsor to two children, one in Columbia who eventually moved out of the system, and one in India. But I had to terminate my sponsorship for financial reasons.
ReplyDeleteBut it's a wonderful way to help those in need in other countries. If I am selected as a winner I'd like a copy of Red Ink as I already have the first two. :)
Hugs, my friend,
Peg
I read Foxe's Book of Martyrs several years ago and that led me to seek information on persecution of Christians today. I'm amazed at how much we in America take for granted today.
ReplyDeleteBut this didn't touch me personally until a missionary that our church supports and who has become a close friend over the years was placed in danger. A new government took over the area where he lives in India, one that is not friendly to Christianity, and he has been threatened several times. One Sunday morning a few months ago, soldiers disrupted their worship service, destroying furniture and injuring many. A pastor's wife lost the baby she was carrying. My friend fears for his life, but shows much courage and a commitment to share Christ. So yes, I pray for my brothers and sisters facing persecution around the world, but especially for my Indian friend and his family.
Kathi, you have written a wonderful series. I have the first two books and would love to win Red Ink. Thank you so much for the giveaway.
